Instructions

This easy rice cooker hack delivers a complete, savory meal with minimal effort. By steaming the beef and vegetables directly with the rice and finishing with a gentle steam for the eggs, you create a flavorful one-pot dish perfect for a quick dinner.

Instructions

  1. Wash the Japanese short grain rice until the water runs clear, then soak in water until ready to use.
  2. Finely chop the carrot, green onions, and garlic clove.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sake, mirin, sesame oil, sugar, and stock powder to create the seasoning sauce.
  4. Place the drained Japanese short grain rice into the rice cooker bowl and add the water.
  5. Layer the chopped carrot, ground beef, and garlic over the rice, spreading them evenly. Pour the seasoning mixture over the top.
  6. Cook on the standard white rice setting.
  7. While the rice cooks, beat the eggs in a separate bowl.
  8. Once the cooking cycle finishes, open the lid and pour the beaten eggs and green onions over the rice. Close the lid and let it steam on the keep warm mode for 20 minutes.
  9. Mix well and serve with plenty of black pepper.
